    Question The GIMP?

I have mostly been using Paint Shop Pro 8.10 for the past year or more. But, I recently got a new computer and I can't find my licensing info, so I haven't installed it on the new PC.

A lot of people in other forum sites strongly recommend a free application, The GIMP. They say it is a strong rival to Photo Shop. So, I have installed it.

I must admit, I am totally lost and have no idea how to start. It has nothing resembling the features I am used to.

So, is anyone here familiar with The GIMP? Do you like it? Any ideas or advice on this would be appreciated.

    Tim

No one here uses it? I found this, last night: http://gimp-savvy.com/BOOK/

It looks like the GIMP is a manual editor. I will have to learn all about levels, curves, etc to be able to use it. I don't guess that will hurt me.

I love GIMP and I have a similar problem to you. I have GIMP and know lots about it but at school we have Paint Shop Pro. I can do basic things but trying to do effects that I can do on GIMP on PSP I get completely lost with.

gimptalk.com is a good website and the forum as several tuts on how to do clever stuff like make parchment or burning flames.
