Focus Error !!!

In Dec 06 I purchased a Fuji film Finepix A400 from Tesco. The other day the batteries died and when the camera shut down the lens did not retract back. I didnt think anything of it as it had no power I just thought once I put new batteries in it would sort out the problem. Once I replaced the batteries the lens still did not retract and the error message FOCUS ERROR showed on the display. I looked in the manual and the turning on off advice did not work. I have lost my receipt and paid by cash so I have no leg to stand on with regard to Tesco or my warranty. Fuji film say they have a standard ’…’‚‚£64.99 repair fee - I might as well just buy a new camera!!!! I have google this error and it seems to have happen with finepix models a lot - but Fuji Film deny this is the case. Anybody got any advice?? Thanks

they have a forum like on here where everyones a fuji owner & you will get more or less instant responses & you can check through posts to see if anyone else has had same probs.
