    f700 !AE auto focus error

    hello,
ive owned the fuji f700 for just 6 days now and have been happy with it since the day i bought it, until now. out of nowhere, i am getting the !AE error message and my images are coming out blurred. i have cleaned the lens as the manual instructs, i cant think what the problem could be. the lens is making an odd noise when i half hold down the shutter, surely a brand new camera should be more reliable than this? if anyone has experianced this problem or knows what is going on please help! thanks alot

The best thing for you to do is

go back to where you buy that camera.

If there really is a problem, they might replace one for one since its a new buy. otherwise they'll advice you how to resolve the thing.

Hope for all the best for you.

Thats not a normal error message, unless there is a reason is cant lock focus.

You could call FUJI tech support or drop by the retail location you purchased it from.

I know I had a older Fuji camera model that did that twice to me, both times I had to send it back for repairs. But with it only being 6 days old, they should be able to help you out at the store.

    Hi
If your subject is low contrast then you will get the error message, try focusing on another part of the scene.

    Unhappy DEJA VU........

    HI
This sounds Oh So familiar and a bit worrying.

My 5 month old F700 went on to its picture cradle one evening and the next morning when I powered on it didn't sound right.A straining noise when it tried to put the lens out.

Everything was blurred , as your post ,although I didnt get the AE! all the time.

Lens was spotless as were all the clear plastic covers to the other sensors on the front.

I used the reset facility to reset to factory setup but alas still blurred.

Using the CAV control allowed distance shots to be fine but anything under 4 meters was out of focus.

Its presently back to fuji ( Great Britain)under warranty , i bought on line and the seller diected me to fuji although I am not entirely sure this is the correct thing for them to do but fuji were excellent when i spoke to them.

They will assess it and tell me if this is a warranty fault ( I should hope so !!) and whether it will be repaired or replaced .

If i'm cynical there will be the new 'F750' released soon with this fault ironed out. I hate this beta testing lark ...

Will post more when I know.
