BG-E1 grip

How many of you DRebel users have added the BG-E1 grip to your rebel. I was thinking of doing this to mine mainly for the extended battery life using two batteries. However the single battery setup seems to have a long life cycle before needing charged. I was curious to see if the battery life or the way it handled was the reason for adding the grip to your camera.

I would love too. I have not done it but would love too just for the way it would make the feel of the camera. I am used to the eos1. Nice and heavy.

As a recent buyer of the 300D I have the added grip and it does make a difference to the overall feel of the camera, its a bit of a cleft stick I'm afraid in so much as that if you prefer a heavier camera you also get the "bulk" which takes a bit of getting used to and as my previous digital was a G2 it makes quite a difference. But if you can do without having to shoot hundreds of frames without the risk of flattening the battery then its a no no.
I got the grip at a steal of a price with the camera so it wasn't an issue for me but watch this space and as soon as I have info on longevity of battery life I'll let you know.

Hi all hope everyone is doing well! Yes get a grip! LOL for your camera. The extra batteries are great. And for my big hands I like the way it feels. Now............. for the ladies it might not be that good. It might be too big so I donn't know? I also have a 50mm 1.8 on order as well I have been reading that alot of people really like using it! Thanks for the replies. I bit the bullet and picked up the grip for my digital rebel. I like the heft it gives the camera as well as the controls for vertical shooting. The extra battery life is a big plus too.

I also picked up a 420EX flash as well as a 28-135 IS USM canon zoom. Spending a lot of money but I like how this camera feels and shoots so far.

My next purchase will be a 70-200 2.8 lens. I haven't decided on the canon or the new sigma. I've been reading a lot of good reviews on the sigma.

myself never got the grip...the power I get from stock battery is more then sufficent..and the flash unit of the 550ex and the 70-200 mm F4L lens is enough weight....expensive hobby but well worth it..as for the 50mm 1.8 lens..awsome and so is the 28-135mm IS lens...so hope this helps for those lens shoppers

I already had a 50mm f1.8 that I got with my Rebel 35mm camera back in 1991. It is a great lens for my new Digital Rebel as well. Very fast and sharp. Seeing how difficult they seem to obtain now makes me very glad I already had one.

As far as the BG-E1 grip goes, it seems that I had plenty of battery for the pictures I take and have never yet had to put in my spare battery during a shooting session. I have been reading that it helps balance longer lenses like my 75-300mm. However, when using that lens I normally am on a monopod, tripod, or braced on a stable object. So, I am still debating on a need for it.
