Red face canon 20D grip & battery problems

After useing the 20D for about a month I purchased a grip.
The problem is, when using AA batteries (6), I am able to take one or 2 pictures and then it shuts down. On my 10D, if something was wrong, I would get a code number. On the 20D, it is just dead. Then when I replace the AA battery pack with the 511 battery, everthing works great.
Anyone have anywork arounds on this problem and have I gotten a bac grip?
    Thanks

    Unhappy

I tried using my battery grip with AA batteries once, and got a similar result. I thought it was just dead batteries because the ones I used were back-ups for my flash that has been in my bag for a while. Guess I might have been wrong.

Thanks for coming back on my question.
I knew these battries were good, because I had purchased new rechargeable battries. It also happen once with an older 511 I had in my 10D. I though the same thing you did.
Maybe someone will have an answer for us. Let me know if you still have problems with new AA's. We may need to send these suckers back.

Having the AA battery tray is a nice back-up. But I have 10 BP 511 batteries for 2 cameras, so I think I'll be ok as long as I keep them charged up.

    Wink

OK, I have found out the problem
Check Canon's site on the 20D-Grip
There is a service recall on the Grip, they will fix the Grip and replace the AA battery holder. They even send you a prepaid shipping label.
Just sent my grip off today.
This is for grips with the SN 000001 to 090000.
Hope this helps those of you having problems like I did and could not figure it out.
    NOW WE KNOW

Thanks for the update, I'll check the serial number on mine too.
