Need Help and advice on camera problem
Yesterday while shooting photos at my young nephews birthday party my canon 300d just stopped auto focusing. At first i thought it was due to over heating, a hot summer day so I put the camera inside and thought little more about it. Picking it up later on the same thing was happening, I checked the controls to see it had been knocked into manual mode then tried different lenses all to no avail. The camera works fine on manual. I have noticed that the light beam on the outside for the auto focus is not working and nor are the lights on the inside of the camera. I intend taking it in to our local dealer whom I trust will put me in touch with dealers who will be able to repair it. The camera is 18 months old and has taken around 19,000 photso and Ive only just finished paying it off.
Has anyone else had this kind of problem. I am wondering if the cost of repair is too high if I will still be able to buy this model new as I have invested in the battery grip and extra batteries etc and not intersted in upgrading and spending on the extras again.
If anyone can give me any advice on what this problem may be I would be grateful.aladyforty

Hi Julie
I haven't a clue on what could be causing that apart from maybe dirty lens contacts on the body. I did find these links though. If you follow the threads through to their conclusions there seemed to be a few solutions in there. Hope they help
