SLR digital
I've had a Canon EOS10 for years and am thinking of going digital. I've started out with a Powershot S50. Very happy with it, but it's not an SLR!
I know it's better to get a lens designed for the digital model, but would it be OK if I started off with a digital body and use these lenses?
Canon Zoom EF 35-135mm
Sigma Zoom 28-70mm
Sigma APO Macro Zoom 70-300mm
Thanks for any comments.

I use a Nikon D100 and all of my lenses are the regular Nikon lenses. Nothing specifically for digital. They work fantastic. The only thing is that you will have the multiplication factor for the lens length. My 50mm lens acts like a 75mm lens. The lenses still take great pics.

marion3b, The Canon EF lens will works just fine.. the Sigmas.. depending on how old they are, may have to be rechipped.. Sigma WILL rechip older lenses too work with the Digital Bodies for FREE last I heard
So, in the end, they should all work just fine.. may just need a little help inbetween
P.S. I shoot with Canon EF-S 18-55mm, Sigma 28-80mm Macro, Sigma 70-300 DL Super Macro II, Canon EF 50mm f.18 MkII prime... All of which produce great results.Last edited by swishman; May 7th, 2004 at 01:55 PM.
It's not the equipment that makes the photographer, but instead, the photographer who makes the equipment!

sigma rechips
Last I was told in the canon slr lens forum was that depending on the sigma lens and the age they would rechip for free..There is some of the lenses that they can't rechip do to lack of parts..So hope this helps for whatever its worth.I tried a sigma lens and ended up keeping with the canon line up...I had for a time the canon 75-300 IS lens..not bad but soft at the 200mm mark and above...Also had the 28-135 IS lens as walk around lens..it was fabulous. I then also had the 70-200mm F4 L lens..very nice and light..fantastic shots..Then sold most of them and got the 70-200mm 2.8 IS lens...love it...hope this info helped.

Thanks for all that Dungster. I was lucky enough to be able to borrow an EOS 10D last weekend. My Canon 35-135mm works just fine but the 2 Sigma lenses seem to work on and off. I haven't figured out why. Sometimes I can take a photo and then suddenly I can't. The camera gives an error 99 message. The manual doens't help much on that one.
Anyway, my weekend with the camera has convinced me that it's the one I want.
