I am forgetful, blind or stupid
My plan was to drive from PA to South Carolina on Monday to see my Dad a few days. The drive takes 81 south to I77. Along the drive, I was going to shoot some of the Shenandoah Valley. It's a beautiful area.
As Ruth noted, and man of you know, the east had a big snow Sunday night. I was stressing as to whether to delay or attempt the drive since most of the storm was suppose to be east of my drive. I decided on short notice to go for it. All along the Virginia I-81 drive I saw some of the most photogenic scenes I have ever seen in the area. Looking in my back seat, I didn't see my camera bag, so (mad) I assumed I left the camera bag at the house, having forgotten to pack it. Pity, the scenes kept jumping out at me.
Now I am at Dad's SC home and unloading the back of my SUV and .... guess what ..........I had thrown the camera bag in the back. I never do that. So, I missed all of the shots, but arrived earlier than planned. I am kicking myself. I need to work on the memory!Buddy

Oh, that's bad.............. Skyline Drive is awesome with some of the best overlooks.
As for the snow, we had 9 inches last night and everything was beautiful this morning. It started melting this afternoon, but I'm sure there will be allot of icy spots in the morning.
Keep your camera close by for your return trip home!Ellen

wahhh!! I feel your pain. I would have loved to be in that area during snow with all those wonderful overlooks. Maybe the snow will still be there on your drive back? how long are you staying?

Buddy, how about all of the above (-:.
Seriously, that's too bad. But then again, I know where your dad lives, and I expect some great shots from the trip. Cindy and I will be in Garden City sometime in April...
If you have time on you return trip, we are only about 30 minutes from I-77. We would love to meet and swap lies if you have time. Google map Claremont, NC (just a ways west of I-77 on I-40). Send us a PM...

I am going to be here until Friday or Saturday. by then, everything north will have melted. Actually, the peach trees are blooming here, so I hope to go out late today and shoot some shots down the rows. You'll probably also be seeing a few barn shots and some old style homes.
Alot of old farmhouses out at the old family farm near Orangeburg. I am taking Dad out to the farm later today also. It seems a beaver has built an obstruction at a culver next to the old pond, causing some pine forest to flood, so some work is needed.Buddy

Hey Buddy, I had a dream several weeks ago that I set out for a photography outing and discovered, when I stopped for lovely morning light along a hedgerow, that I'd left the house without the camera. I remember that sinking, self-flagellating feeling well. I hope you capture something that eases the mental beration I'm assuming you are heaping on yourself.

I hear you! You're not alone. A few years ago I carefully cleaned my Minolta SLR, replaced the batteries and packed it for my solo trip to Cuba. When I got there I discovered it didn't work at all. I'd forgotten to pack spare batteries so bought new ones there but they didn't work either. I was desolate. I realized I'd packed the little point & shoot Olympus so didn't go completely without photos on the trip but it just wasn't the same - kept wishing I had zoom or macro or...
Got home, changed the batteries again and all worked fine. Turns out Cuban batteries are about 1/8" shorter than the regular AA's and it looks like I'd put dead ones in before I left.
I've also passed a double rainbow piercing clouds on top of a ravine with golden light emanating throughout, and a fox walking up the road towards me with two fresh rabbit kills in it's mouth - all without camera. They're ingrained to memory for life, but that little bit of regret lingers!Suzan...
