Thank you Linda and 1969!
Male Egrets when they are trying to find a mate will do a dance to attract a female. Once they have attracted a female to breed with, the female will usually be the primary nest builder with the male flying back and forth getting twigs and branches. It's rather interesting to see the whole ritual. The above picture is part one (of three) of the dance, here are two links to the other two parts.

Congratulations!!! Well deserved. This is one excellent shot.
We live on a small lake and I often shoot photos of egrets. I have never seen one of them doing a dance. I hope one day I will experience it. I love to watch them fish. Your photo captured just what beautiful birds they are.

Congratulation Rod for the superb shot of the Egret and the win, think you're one of the rare one to make in Birding category
Been trying like a maniac, seems I'm doomed not to make it with my smallish birds
Congrats again

I fat fingered my last post and it went outside this thread. Still getting a feel for this forum. Will repost here...
Thanks Eric,
I really liked your picture too (as well as your others). At least I was able to help you to the finals. Rod
Lucy, Jlpriestley and Bren, thanks so much! I was wondering if any bird shots were capable of winning.
Bren,
To see the Egrets like this, you need to find a rookery where they all gather during mating season...Rod Ostoski

Thank you Bluesky, Gayle, Matt and Tabby. Really appreciate the comments. St Augustine rookery where I took this shot has a photo contest next month. This is a good candidate for one of my entries.
Kind Regards,
